Because of the magnitude of needed improvements, this project was split into three separate TxDOT-funded construction contracts. Improvements included reconstruction of the primary runway ends, overlay of the primary runway (to strengthen the pavement), new runway lighting and guide signs, extension of the parallel taxiway to the secondary runway, reconstruction of the primary parallel taxiway, construction of a new concrete ag pad, and slurry sealing of several taxiway segments. Our construction sequencing plans provided for continuous runway operations during all construction phases. We have assisted Angelina County with ongoing airport improvements since 2002, which have included an Airport Master Plan, drainage improvements, parallel taxiway and hangar access taxiway pavement rehabilitation, and implementation of security/game fencing.
The Texas Department of Transportation recently awarded the Angelina County Airport the 2019 Most Improved Airport award at its 37th Annual Texas Aviation Conference.
